Attefall: Tales of the Tower
he story of Attefall begins with the elves. It is said that thousands of years ago elves were the first intelligent creatures to appear in Attefall, but they did not evolve from a lessor species or be created by this world’s numerous gods, no it is said that the elves appeared during an event that is now known as “The Fall”. The most ancient records state that all over Attefall elves fell from the sky and crashed into the ground unharmed. The “Firstlings” as the original elves were called were a mix match of sex, age and size. The Firstlings had no memories of their pastor of the origin of where they might have come from. With no one to answer why they were there and how, the Firstlings began to form societies. Over a millennia the different elven communities evolved into slightly different versions of themselves. The elves to the west in the great forest of Athel Loren had copper skin and were known for their skills with crafting with wood as well as their ability to blend in with their surroundings were known as the Wood Elves. To east in the great mountains of Vilea lived the elves were fair skinned and were abnormally tall compared to the their elven kin and when the events transpired became quite proficient in the arcane arts were known as the High Elves. The elves who ventured to the island continent of O’Dieos had palish blue or gray skin tones and boasted extreme knowledge of the sea were known as the Drow or Dark Elves. The elves maintained relative peace with each other but it was not uncommon for small isolated wars to occur. With the mark of the One-thousandth year to pass the elves all over Attefall celebrated a universal festival to enjoy the boons of the year and their arrival to this world they have called home. However when the sun rose the highest on the day of the one-thousandth year the sky tore open in ten different places and from each an gargantuan dragon of varying colors `Red, Green, Black, Blue, White, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Brass and Copper. Following each dragon were a horde of smaller wyverns and drakes. These creatures, namely the chromatic dragons reaped destruction all across Attefall. For 100 years elves fought the great dragons, during which they formed an alliance with the metallic dragons who aided in the fight against the chromatics. After the alliance was formed a enormous army containing most of the remaining elves from all races assaulted the Great red dragon’s lair and lured the dragon to the southern mountain range in Vilea where the Gold and Silver were waiting in ambush. After losing most of the large force the elves managed to get the Red dragon to what is know known as the sharp peaks and this is where the Gold and Silver dragons launched their assault on the Great red dragon. The battle lasted three days which in that time all the remaining dragons entered the fray as well. For those that watched the battle if was said to be a truly terrifying experience and even though the dragons fought in the sky the mountain range quaked and didn’t stop until the Red dragon was bested and pierced on the peaks of the mountain gravely wounding him. With this the remaining chromatics picked up and carried off the Red dragon to the Eastern sea and were never seen again. Although the battle was won the Metallic dragons did not win without major wounds of their own. As they landed in the plains full of exhaustion the remaining elves rushed from all over to try and care for them as much as possible. For an entire week the remaining army of the elves and the Great metallic dragons rested in the middle of the plains of Vilea. It was said that a feast lasted the entire week with food being made every hour. The elves did their best to feed the dragons and due to the drastic population drop of the elves surprisingly enough food was constantly supplied to the tent city that by the end of the week the Gold dragon, Alistar was said to have stated that his hunger was “Sated”. During the week long feast volunteers manning ships set sail eastward immediately to pursue the Chromatic dragons to see if land somewhere but out of the many ships set not a single one returned. After the great feast ended each metallic dragon praised the courage and devotion the elves expressed in luring the chromatic dragons there, as well as mourned those lost in the attempt in luring the chromatics. The Gold dragon Alistar then explained that the elves would soon find that dragonkin that walked upright like the elves would be found throughout the world and they were to try and accept these beings into their society no matter what color they might be because they were like them and had no memories of where they came from or what brought them here. The elves accepted but in return asked if the dragons knew anything about why there were brought here. All the Gold dragon said was “I cannot say.” and with those words the Dragons bid farewell and took off in different directions seeming to make their own homes in different mountains. A few elves who were captivated in the god like beings attempted to follow the dragons but could never find where the dragons went. The elven population had been decimated by more than half. This became the number one things the elves wished to protect and so an era of peace began with an unspoken pact made to never strike another elf down in cold blood.
